It is very interesting to read about the positive effect of various ragas on human body and how they heal various diseases. Checkout these two websites below for more details. The first website lists most of the ragas and their healing effects. The second one (Courtesy “The Hindu” newspaper) goes in depth about selective ragas and how the swaras help in healing.

Also, vocal music directly involves the respiratory parts of the body and all the different ragas act as different forms of breathing exercises thereby it opens up the breathing passage as well. It would be apt to rephrase the old proverb. “A Raaga a day, keeps the doctor away”
