Ibrahim Khan Gauri (born 20 July 1951) is an Urdu poet, journalist, actor and film lyricist. He writes under the pen name Ashk. His early education was at Badnagar, District Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. He received his B.A. from Indore University in 1973 and his M.A. in Hindi Literature in 1974 from Indore University. He is a journalist, poet and film writer. He served 4 years with the Daily Indore Samachar, 6 years with Shama and Shushma magazines and 2 years with Sarita, a famous Hindi monthly magazine. Literary Contributions : Ilham – 1991 Aagahi – 1996 (Collection of Poems) Karbala – 1998 (Historical Elegy) Andaz-e-Bayan Aur – 2001 (Critical appreciation and explanation of Mirza Asad-ullah Khan `Ghalib’) Tanqidi Shaoor – 2004 (Work on Bedil, Hafiz, Ghalib, Iqbal, Firaq Gorakhpuri and different literary subjects) Innovations : Lala and Chaharan – New poetic forms Such innovation come by only a few times in centuries. Also, expression of novel in poetic medium – in musical rhymes and rhythms. Bollywood : Penned Lyrics for "Kaho Naa Pyar Hai" (Broke 50 years old record), "Koi Mil Gaya", "Janasheen", "Eitbaar", "Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage", "Koi Mere Dil Se Pooche", "Dhund" and several others.
